Sinds 2025 werkt een groep enthousiaste kunstenaars aan echobeach.nl. Hun doel is kunstenaars niet meer afhankelijk te laten zijn van big-techbedrijven zoals Meta. Alles wat op echobeach wordt gepubliceerd, blijft van de gebruikers. Er wordt niet aan verdiend dus zijn er geen advertenties en wordt je aandacht niet opgeëist met algoritmen of rage bait om je eindeloos te laten scrollen.

Tijdens de kennismaking in ateliercomplex C3 maak je kennis met echobeach, met elkaar en kan je vragen stellen over het platform in opbouw. Er zal gesproken worden over de rol van kunstenaars op het vrije internet, over de geschiedenis van het internet en de rol van hackers daarin, over de politieke werkelijkheid in Europa met betrekking tot big-tech, en over de grote vraag: wat is de fediverse eigenlijk. Er komt een update over Pixelfed, het programma waar echobeach mee werkt en er zal voldoende tijd en ruimte zijn voor vragen en het uitwisselen van ideeën en om na te praten bij de bar.

A/I may be ending. The story is nowhere near over.

For twenty-five years, #AutisticiInventati showed what it could mean for movements to build and control their own communications infrastructure. Its loss should not send everyone searching for the next single service to replace it.

It should send us looking in a hundred directions.

In Boise, the Boise Autonomous Solidarity Hub is experimenting with one of them. @BASH has put a small independent publication on NomadNet, a system running over Reticulum rather than relying solely on the conventional web. It has articles, archives, submissions and contact functions, reachable through a cryptographic network destination instead of an ordinary domain.

That is not the answer. That's what makes it interesting.

Other projects are trying other things: cooperative infrastructure, self-managed servers, RSS, mirrors, print, radio, downloadable archives, federated publishing and networks that barely resemble the commercial web at all.

We don't need to find another A/I. We need to understand how to build a thousand different pieces of what made A/I possible.

Ora sta a ognun* di noi decidere se vuole pappagallare lo stesso insulto fotocopiato contro Banca Etica, come farebbe la clientela cerebrolesa di Meta, o alzare il culo e colmare il vuoto con nuove risorse e strumenti, e contribuire davvero al loro mantenimento anziché pretendere di scroccare sulla base di due spille di partecipazione.
